Rumors are swirling online that Julian Assange is dead after an unusual set of tweets from WikiLeaks that some believe to be an insurance policy to ensure that closely guarded information is released in the event of his death.

The viral rumors started on Sunday afternoon after the official WikiLeaks Twitter account tweeted a strange series of messages that appeared to be coded.

Many believed that the release of the tweets meant that woe had befallen Assange, who has been at the forefront of the American presidential campaign in recent months by releasing sensitive emails related to Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.

Calls, texts and emails left with WikiLeaks weren’t immediately returned on Monday. A woman who answered the phone at the Equadorian embassy in London where Julian Assange stays, said: “I cannot disclose any information.”

An email to Ecuador’s ambassador wasn’t immediately answered and London’s Metropolitan Police declined comment.

WikiLeaks says that founder Julian Assange’s internet access has been cut by an unidentified state actor. Few other details were immediately available.

The Australian founder of WikiLeaks continued to deliver scoops, including revelations that have rattled Hillary Clinton’s campaign for president as the US election enters its final stretch.

Despite WikiLeaks posting on Twitter after the release of the releasing the codes, the rumors that Julian Assange may be dead have persisted. Many are still openly questioning his fate and calling on Assange to make a statement directly.

This comes a day after Pamela Anderson visited Assange in the embassy in a revealing outfit. She first met exiled WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange in August 2014.

On Saturday, the busty blonde Baywatch star was seen carrying bags of food from Pret-a-Manger.

It was “a nice vegan lunch and some vegan snacks,” Anderson reportedly told the UK Press Association.
