The client of the Monoprix had the fright of his life. On Tuesday evening around 9 pm, while he was quietly leaving a supermarket in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, with a pack of beers in his hand, he was assaulted by an Islamist armed with a very long knife, hidden under his North African djellaba, a long loose-fitting unisex outer robe with full sleeves, worn in the Maghreb region.
The victim had the reflex to protect himself with his forearm while a lady friend grabbed the assailant by the throat, forcing him to retreat several meters.
On the video of the attack, which the Point.fr has obtained, one sees the aggressor remaining motionless a few seconds before fleeing. The attacker who was born in December 1996 in Paris, according to a source close to the case file, was very vehement but could not strike a fatal blow and only slightly wounded the victim on the ear.
Quickly identified, the suspect was not arrested at his home, but at a friend’s home on Wednesday morning in the north of the French capital.
The two men have been placed in custody and their apartments were searched. According to information obtained by Le Point, they are not indexed or even known for previous radicalization.
The anti-terrorist prosecutor’s office has not yet expressed any interest in the case. The investigations, conducted by the 3rd Judicial Police District (DPJ), will have to determine the motive of this aggression, and whether or not the assailant knew the victim.
The individual was nevertheless quickly identified by the police.
The victim’s girlfriend received a blow to the face in passing.
