CNS News reported that only 42.1 percent of all “deportable aliens” that the US Border Patrol arrested along the US-Mexico border in the fiscal year of 2017 were actually citizens from Mexico.

Data produced by US Customs and Border Protection, showed that a significant majority—57.9 percent—came from 111 other countries.

United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is responsible for protecting US borders in order to prevent terrorists and terrorist weapons from entering the United States, while facilitating the flow of legitimate trade and travel.

In fact, during fiscal year 2017, the Border Patrol stopped deportable illegals along the border who came from 84 countries that are not in the Americas.

The Customs and Border Protection spreadsheet shows a total of 310 531 “deportable aliens” in all 20 US Border Patrol sectors.

Nine sectors run along the Southwest Border with Mexico, eight across the Northern Border with Canada, and three along the nation’s Coastal Border.

Of the total 310 531 “deportable aliens” stopped by law enforcement, some 97.9 percent were apprehended in the nine sectors along the Southwest Border with Mexico.

The top three countries that ranked after Mexico in illegals were Guatemala El Salvador and Honduras in second, third and fourth place respectively.

India ranked fifth. In fiscal 2017, US Border Patrol stopped 2 963 deportable illegals who were citizens of India along the Southwest Border. In fact, US Border Patrol stopped more citizens from India in its nine sectors along the Mexican border than citizens of Brazil or Ecuador.

The Peoples Republic of China ranked eighth, ahead of Nicaragua, which ranked ninth.

Among the top 41 countries whose citizens were arrested by the US Border Patrol along the Mexican frontier, 21 were not in the Americas.

In addition to India and China, illegals from Nepal, Bangladesh, Romania, Pakistan, Albania, and various African countries were also apprehended.
