White populations on two continents shrinking data shows

While most research concentrates on the situation in Western Countries, white populations in Latin America as well as Africa are declining too.

Since a large amount of non-white migrants to the US comes from Latin America, it is interesting to note that white populations in Latin America have been shrinking.

In Argentina – whites declined from 85 percent of the population in 1914 to 65 percent in 2012 or to 78 percent according to Wikipedia.

In Brasil, whites declined from 53.7 percent of the demographic in 2000 to 47.7 percent in 2010, and in Latin America in total: from 43.2 percent in 1980 to 36.1 percent in 2000

Americans have been complaining about the lack of education of the immigrants coming from Latin America. Almost none of them are white, incidentally. Latin American economies have also been performing poorly compared to other emerging economies.

Migration is an important demographic process, shaping the age structure and distribution of the South African population. For the period 2016 to 2021, the wealthy provinces Gauteng and Western Cape are projected to experience the largest inflow of migrants of approximately 1.6 million and 485 560, respectively.

Stats SA’s data showed a continuing theme among the country’s white population, namely a steady decline over the past decade. The country lost over 22 250 whites over the past year, to an estimated 4.49 million in 2017.

There were 4.52 million white South Africans in 2016, as previously reported by Stats SA.

The data showed a big decline in the number of young white adults, while the only demographic showing any growth was recorded in the ageing population – people aged 70 and older.

Emigration agencies have reported increases in the number of white South Africans inquiring about immigrating to countries including Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the US, and even Canada.

Their main reasons cited include high crime rates, the low standard of education, discriminatory racial requirements in doing business and financial and political concerns.

More recent concerns include recessionary woes, and sovereign downgrades by top rating agencies.

Data over a decade shows that the country’s white population has declined from 4.59 million in 2011, to 4.52 million in 2016 – a loss of 70 147 people, or 1.5 percent.

By comparison, the black African population has increased by nearly four million over the same period – from 41 million, to 44.9 million people, or 9.5 percent.

According to Stats SA, many young white people who finish school or university leave South Africa to go study or gain experience abroad because they face a bleak future in their own country.

According to Andrew Amoils, head of research at New World Wealth, the decline in numbers was mainly due to poor economic conditions in South Africa.

Based on its 2015 migration survey, New World Wealth estimates that SA lost just over 950 millionaires to emigration in 2015. Of the ones that left, 36 percent went to the UK, 15 percent to Australia, 11 percent to the US, 8 percent to Canada, 5 percent to Mauritius and 4 percent to Israel.
