A team of the French anti-crime brigade (BAC) could not believe their eyes on Monday, in Mulhouse, when a young child tried - quite confidently - to buy drugs.

    Mulhouse

Mulhouse is a city in eastern France, near the Swiss and German borders. The six-year-old girl, who is apparently used to obtaining cannabis resin for her mother, was caught by police officers from the anti-crime squad in Mulhouse while she was trying to get a dose of hashish on Monday, December 9.

The police were busy with surveillance of a building in the Drouot district, a place known for drug trafficking, reported RTL. The girl suddenly entered, jostling the agents. She pushed a bill into the hand of one agent while demanding “in an authoritative voice,” according to the radio: “It’s my turn now, give me a packet of 10 euros!”

In reality, the young buyer had confused the BAC with the dealers.

The officials accompanied the child back to her mother and grandmother, who had been waiting in a car, a block away. It was the mother who had asked her daughter to go and fetch the cannabis resin.

The girl is not in school, and can neither read nor write. The whole family, currently visiting Mulhouse, is part of the community of nomad Travelers.

However, it was not a first for the girl: the dealers arrested during the operation admitted to having seen her five or six times. The mother, was summoned to court to answer for introducing a minor to drug trafficking, and could serve up to 7 years in prison if found guilty.
