She is suspected of having organised fake weddings not only there, but also in Montreuil, Sevran and Tremblay-en-France.

Considered the right hand of the mayor (LR) of Villepinte, Martine Valleton, the contract worker Chabha Ould-Braham was indicted on Thursday, December 12, for having married foreigners to French citizens.

According to French daily, Le Parisien, the contract worker will be dismissed shortly.

Officially in charge of relations with the districts, the latter had pressured the agents of the civil status service of several municipalities of Seine-Saint-Denis to register fake marriages. Such unions allow foreigners to obtain a residence permit while the willing French party pockets money for the required papers in exchange.

The contractual employee took a commission  for herself apparently, since 30 000 euros in cash had have been found at her home.

During the city council meeting of Saturday December 14, no elected representative wished to speak publicly on the issue, but the majority, according to the daily, had held a crisis meeting the day before.

The inhabitants are wondering how it is possible that the mayor did not notice anything.
