According to NBC News, the FBI on Saturday arrested Larry Mitchell Hopkins, 69, that has been detaining migrants in New Mexico.

The state attorney general’s office said Hopkins was arrested for allegedly being a criminal in possession of a weapon.

The FBI said he was arrested on a federal complaint but it was not immediately clear what his underlying conviction was as the FBI refused to release other information until after Hopkins has had his initial court appearance.

Notably, the FBI in its statement said nothing about an armed group detaining migrants near the border in a citizen’s arrest.

The United Constitutional Patriots made headlines on Thursday for helping to detain caravan of illegals crossing into America

On Friday the group announced on Facebook that they had been banned by PayPal with all their funds frozen for 180 days.

The United Constitutional Patriots said they wanted to thank everyone who donated to their “Border Ops mission” but they “can no longer accept payments” through PayPal as “they have permanently suspended our account”.

PayPal is holding $1 300 of their donations “for 180 days” the group said.

Even though the group never broke any laws, the ACLU has falsely suggested it of “kidnapping” migrants. Dozens of mainstream media outlets repeated the false claim to imply that the actions of the patriots had been illegal.

The ACLU also tried to imply they were “white nationalists” even though the videos show they are not an exclusively white group.

While the United Constitutional Patriots were punished by PayPal for trying to uphold the law, leftist groups are allowed to fundraise in support of law-breaking illegal migrants.

Tony Perkins, the president of Family Research Council, said in a recent article on Fox News that PayPal CEO Dan Schulman, working together with the Southern Poverty Law Center, “has politically weaponized the financial system”.

“As PayPal aligns itself with America’s hard left and seeks to politically weaponize the financial system, state and federal consumer finance and banking regulators have a moral obligation to evaluate the need to immediately start investigating this development and its injurious impact upon consumers,” Perkins noted.

Meanwhile armed Mexican troops disarmed two United States soldiers on the American side of the border this week.

US Northern Command said in a statement that “five to six Mexican military personnel questioned two US Army soldiers who were conducting border support operations” this month. The American soldiers were in an unmarked Customs and Border Protection [CBP] vehicle near the southwest border near Clint, Texas.

CNN reported that the two Americans handed over their weapons immediately, They obliged “in an attempt to de-escalate a potential volatile situation” an official said.

Pentagon and Department of Homeland Security officials demanded an explanation from the Mexican government. “An inquiry by CBP and DOD [Department of Defense] revealed that the Mexican military members believed that the US Army soldiers were south of the border,” the statement said.
