Threats made “electronically” on Monday to Denmark’s airports, shopping centers and hospitals, were “from the same source”, Danish police say.

Without commenting how the perpetrator sent the messages, Danish police confirmed the detaintion of suspect. It did not name the man nor suggest a motive.

The 28-year-old was arrested when police stormed his apartment.

“The man is already known to the police, and the arrest took place without major incident,” Henrik Karlsen from the South Zealand and Lolland-Falster police told the Ritzau news agency.

The threats forced the evacuation of two provincial airports and two shopping malls earlier in the day.

Roskilde and Aarhus domestic airports, Copenhagen’s Rikshospitalet and the Odense University Hospital, The Copenhagen Business School, and the Vestsjællandscenteret and RO’s Torv shopping centres had to be evacuated.

Additional threats were also sent to other locations in the Danish capital, including Copenhagen Airport, but were deemed no security threat.

The suspect is being detained in Slagelse, a town about 100 km west of the Danish capital, police said in a statement while a second shopping center in Slagelse was still being searched on Monday evening.

Police urged people to stay away from the downtown area near the shopping centre.
