The statue of the 18th-century queen in the country’s capital, was clad in the controversial black Muslim veil. During her 40-year reign, the female monarch was a devout Catholic. The anniversary of her death was celebrated this week.
The Identitarians picked the country’s most respected historical figure, venerated in a large public square in central Vienna, not far from the parliament. They published a video of their daring feat scaling the 20 meter high statue on Facebook.
The monument, one of the Vienna’s most famous, was also decorated with sign carrying the inscription Islamisierung – nein Danke! [Islamization? No thanks!] attached to her feet.
“If the politicians keep silent about Islamization, we have to draw attention to them all the more. Every day our country becomes a bit more Islamized. In Muslim kindergartens jihad is declared against unbelievers, individual attackers shout “Allahu Akbar!” during assassinations in Austria. Meanwhile, state-sanctioned Islamic experts point out that this has nothing to do with Islam and Islamization does not take place at all.”
The Identitarians denounced the political persecution of those who are concerned about the future of Austria and speak the truth to power.
“We are fighting for the legacy of Maria Theresa, for the preservation of our traditions and for the freedom of our women,” the group said in a statement posted on its Facebook page.
