The assailant had to be wrestled down by two security guards using maximum force at the Reichstag. The incident was caught on camera, and aired live accidentally, together with the comical reactions of the mainstream press.

An interviewer and his guest keep on talking, while the cameras record the attack. The screams of the attacker can be heard very clearly in the unedited version: “Allahu akbar!”

The alarmed journalist, on witnessing the attack, tells his viewers that he does not “understand” what is happening even though it is quite clear that Merkel is being attacked by someone screaming “Allahu akbar!”

It appears that the pro-immigration chancellor and her surrogates were not all too pleased with the live footage of an Afghan ingrate tarnishing her image of a welcoming figure.

In a second news clip, produced and edited by German tabloid Bild afterwards, the sound of the the screaming jihadist is drowned out by “street noise”.

German newspaper Die Welt also reassured its readers that a “disturber was merely running towards Merkel” and no harm was intended. The editorial staff cautioned readers against a “knee jerk reaction” in mistrusting someone rushing towards you while yelling “something in a foreign language” that “sounds similar to ‘Allahu akbar!'”

But for the two security guards it was certainly a heart-stopping moment in front of the Bundestag judging by their reactions.

The attacker is a 23-year-old Afghan from Ostfildern, southeast of Stuttgart. And he has no police record.

“He just ran towards the world-famous chancellor. Upon doing so, he was stopped by a bodyguard, whose job it simply is to prevent such incidents. And he did not yell anything political — no slogans and definitely no suicide attack slogans.

“So the case is being handled by the regular police, not by state security,” the newspaper claimed.

But Die Welt does not explain why it was neccessary to edit out the screams of the “friendly Merkel fan”.

Earlier, a German criminal psychologist had advised the public to “politely enquire” about the motives of an advancing murderous jihadist in a public space after the horrific axe attack on board a Würzburg train.

Criminal psychologist Jens Hoffmann, told the Tagesanzeiger: “It is understandable that you feel threatened when someone with an axe enters the train. But we mustn’t become paranoid. It helps to go there and politely ask what it’s all about.”

The chancellor however did not take Hoffmann’s advice this time. She did not politely enquire about the Afghan’s motives, but ignored him and quickly rushed to her car, which sped away moments later.
