They either watch TV, listen to music, use apps on their smartphones, or post their views on social media, Nielsen revealed.

According to Nielsen, US adults spend more than 11 hours a day on average—or about two-thirds of their waking time—consuming media.

In its first-quarter 2018 report on US media consumption, it measured activities like watching TV and DVDs, listening to the radio, visiting apps on a smartphone or tablet, and using the internet and game consoles. It is estimated that interacting with media, is now on average 19 minutes longer than in the previous quarter.

Being on the web on a smartphone takes up 2 hours, 22 minutes, much longer than being on the internet on a computer, which takes up only 39 minutes per day.

Watching DVDs is not popular anymore. It only takes up 6 minutes of an average day and they will soon be relics of a bygone age it seems.

Surprisingly, Nielsen reported that older Americans actually spend the most time consuming media: Adults between 35-49 spend over 11 hours a day on it, while adults 50-64 are busy on their phones for 13 hours.

Younger generations are more interested in TV-connected device and digital usage, while young adults spend the most time consuming media on smartphones.

Young adults between the ages of 18-34 spend 43 percent of their time consuming media on digital platforms. A third of their time spent with media, comes from apps/web on a smartphone, more than any other age group.

They are constantly on their phones, with smartphone use at an all-time high.

A different study discovered that the average office worker in America spends 1 700 hours in front of a screen per year.

According to a survey by contact lenses manufacturer Acuvue, office workers spend about 6.5 hours a day sitting in front of their computer.

The Internet had previously generally offered different viewpoints, but now there is a massive effort to censor alternative voices, as the elites attempt to become gatekeepers in the digital world.

In 2018, major websites have been “shadowbanned”, censored or having their accounts terminated by tech giants. Some large conservative websites have seen their traffic from social media fall by over 90 percent, with a dramatic drop in revenue.

For example, WND has seen revenue decline by about 60 percent over the last two years.

WND and the rest of the independent media are threatened by tech giants, which controls traffic, revenue, search power, hosting and distribution of news and information through social media.
