A Turkish bather fought with a large group of North African adolescents on Saturday.

The Turkish newspaper Hürriyet reported that as a result of the dispute, more and more mostly North African people gathered around their ethnic mates. AIn the end, the father of a Turkish family had to face a hostile crowd of up to 400 people.

The police had to accompany the man and his family of four out of the swimming pool for their own safety. Overall, more than 60 officials were called to action to calm the situation. The subsequent evacuation of the swimming pool was, according to police, “largely trouble-free”.

But on Sunday, the police had to clear out the Düsseldorf swimming pool again as a result of ethnic trouble. Towards evening, the officials were again requested to take action against bathers, reported the Express.

No information was however made publicly available on the reason for the second eviction within two days.

The President of the Federal Association of German Swimming, Peter Harzheim, complained about the growing aggression in outdoor pools. “I have been on the job for 45 years now. One has certainly experienced a lot, but what has happened in the last 40 years is frightening,” he told the news agency dpa.

Cultural differences played a role in almost all such cases and often parents tell their children not to put up with anything, he said.

Already in the past week there had been violent acts at other swimming pools. In North Rhine-Westphalia, a lifeguard and a girl were injured.
