‘Inevitable’ Covid-19: Macron minister infected
The epidemic has exceeded 110 000 infections worldwide, killing more than 3 892 people. In France there are 30 deaths, according to Santé Publique France. A member of the government was also infected, one of the 1 412 cases registered.

After having sat on the benches of the National Assembly, affecting five deputies and two staff members of the Bourbon Palace, the epidemic of Covid-19 ended up infecting a minister of Emmanuel Macron, in the person of Franck Riester, 46 years.
The Minister of Culture announced that he has been contaminated by the Sars-CoV-2 virus, as the novel Coronavirus is now officially known, on Monday March 9, specifying that he was nevertheless “in shape” and resting at his Parisian home. “The minister was tested positively today after showing symptoms,” said his cabinet. Disturbing news, as the minister spent several days in the Chamber last week.
According to the Director General of Health, Jérôme Salomon, who held a new press conference on Monday evening, the epidemic is in France “inevitable”. However, he stresses that “there are still many uncertainties […] about the impact of the measures taken to contain the progression of the epidemic”.
Salomon has counted 25 deaths, of which 15 men and 10 women, while Santé Publique France announced 30 deaths. He said he had “confidence” in his figure, and added that he does not yet have detailed information on the profile of the five people additionally registered by the public body.
