“We have to acknowledge that we are an imperfect union — and have been since the beginning — and every day we strive to make ourselves more perfect, and more just. In a diverse country like ours, that means committing to do the work,” the representative said.
She told the UNHRC, which includes China, Cuba, Venezuela, Saudi Arabia and North Korea, that the US needed to “engage trailblazing groups like yours” in order to “improve”. Curiously, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken did not appear to want to learn anything, at least from China. He had warned China a week ago to cease “acts of genocide” against Muslim Uyghurs in its Xinjiang region, denouncing China’s “egregious” human rights violations.
