Brussels overturns mask requirement
From June 9, one no longer has to wear a face mask in Brussels. And the restaurants are allowed to open their interiors. Only travel remains a problem.

Corona is also on the decline in the Belgian capital. The mayors of the 19 municipalities have therefore decided to overturn the mask requirement in public spaces. Masks will still have to be worn in crowded public spaces where social distancing cannot be adhered to.
You only have to cover your mouth and nose in public transport and in busy places. Otherwise people are finally able to smile again.
In addition, the restaurants are allowed to open their interiors albeit with some requirements and some distancing measures. This should also free up space on outside terraces, which have proliferated.
Travel remains the biggest problem – the very issue that the EU should be concerned about. Finally, freedom of travel applies in the Schengen area. But, as so often during the Corona crisis, it has not yet been resolved.
In the middle of Europe, completely different and often contradicting travel rules still apply, and Belgians still have to pay for their Corona tests themselves if they are not prescribed by a doctor.
This prevents many from taking the summer vacation promised by the EU. There may be two tests per person free of charge from July 1 – but only if you also get vaccinated.
