Following U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement of similar plans in the US, the Netherlands, the Dutch Parliament approved a motion from Thierry Baudet’s Forum voor Democratie (FvD) party to outlaw Antifa.
Baudet hailed the decision on X, calling Antifa a “violent and criminal terrorist organization” with global chapters.
Geert Wilders, a Member of the House of Representatives, filed a request noting Antifa’s threats, intimidation, and violence in the country, aligning with the U.S. designation.
Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban endorsed the move in a video shared by State Secretary Zoltan Kovacs. Orban accused Antifa of assaulting peaceful citizens in Hungary, with some members becoming European Parliament MEPs who criticize the nation on rule of law.
He pledged to classify Antifa as terrorists, following Trump’s lead.
Trump, during a Sept. 15 White House briefing, affirmed he would designate Antifa as terrorists with support from officials like Attorney General Pam Bondi. On Truth Social, he reiterated the stance, vowing investigations into Antifa funders.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene meanwhile introduced a resolution urging DOJ action against Antifa terrorism.
This follows the assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk by suspect Tyler Robinson, linked to leftist ideologies. “Cancel culture” Democrats are now planning the No Political Enemies (NOPE) Act to protect leftwing speech.
