The latest example is a boy only twelve years old who is suspected of having executed a man on the orders of a criminal gang – but who shot the wrong person.
A 21-year-old gang criminal was found dead in a car in the Hindby area of Malmö late Friday by police patrols who arrived at the scene after receiving a report of gunfire. The police were later able to locate the scene of the shooting to Oxie outside Malmö.
According to Sydsvenskan, a boy only twelve years old has been arrested and subsequently handed over to social services – suspected of having carried out the murder and attempted murder on orders from a criminal immigrant gang.
“You are horrified, where are we going? How can you even use such young people?” said Rasem Chebil, operational manager at the investigation section at Malmö police, to Sydsvenskan.
According to information provided to another Swedish outlet Aftonbladet, the police suspect that the actual target of the shooting was one of the other people in the car.
According to a press release from the Swedish Prosecution Authority, the crime classification is one murder and three attempted murders.
“The crime categories are one murder and three attempted murders. An investigation is underway where a minor has been questioned about his involvement in the incident and has been given legal counsel,” noted senior prosecutor Caroline Carlquist, who is leading the preliminary investigation, in the press release.
Sweden a ‘Mecca’ for Children Who Murder for Money
Over the past 15 years, Sweden has become the country in the Western world after the USA, Ukraine and Russia where there are the most shootings per capita and the country in the West after Ukraine and Russia where there are the most bombings per capita – a rare feat since Ukraine and Russia are at war.
The phenomenon of “child soldiers”, where criminal gangs use teenagers and children to carry out various crimes for which they often pay large sums, is something that has made Sweden an unenviable example to the rest of Europe.
Over the past three years, more than 1,300 children and teenagers have been suspected of murder or attempted murder, according to the Swedish Council for Crime Prevention (BRÅ). At the same time, the age of the suspects has decreased over time, and last year, around 40 percent of those who have completed a serious act of violence were under the age of 18.
In 2025 around 130 children under the age of 15 were suspected of crimes in connection with murder plots.
