After a night out, the woman shared a cab with one of the men and asked to use his bathroom. According to the woman, he soon started molesting her there, and other men arrived to take turns raping her. When the suspects were released, public anger turned against them, but also against police and the prosecutor. The five men were relocated in order to protect them and several special police units were sent to the island to handle the situation. The suspects had apparently also been assigned their own police officers for their security in the face of the angry public.
After the alleged gang rape, a crowd of a hundred people gathered outside the asylum centre to protest against rape and the release of the five suspects. One of them was 26-year old Camilla Sandelius, who told the Swedish weekly Nya Tider:
– Media always try to deny that we have come together spontaneously, but Gotlanders have always stuck together. We are 65 000 people who feel the same way and see that something has changed recently.
Camilla also took part in creating a citizen-protection group, which now claims 700 members. This initiative led to all local newspapers describing her as a “racist” and even a “nazi” in a joint effort. About this slander, Camilla says:
– We would have done the same thing if the perpetrators were Swedes – but that simply does not happen! We all knew instantly that they were immigrants. It is the media that tar everyone with the same brush as soon as it is related to immigrants! Then everybody who protests is portrayed as a “nazi” and a “racist”. Women get raped and people are murdered all over Sweden, and they can only focus on “nazism” and “racism”, not on the fact that something is happening to our country!
At the same time opposition activist Jan Sjunnesson managed to raise approximately 15 000 euro for the rape victim. When handing over the amount to her relatives, he also took the opportunity to talk to them. On her behalf they thanked the donors, and one of the women continued:
– I have spoken to the victim, and she is very grateful to everyone that has contributed and shown their support.
When asked about how the victim was feeling now, she answered:
– She is feeling terrible. Also because she was met with distrust [by the authorities].
Jan Sjunnesson also talked to well-known blogger “Julia Caesar”, who was highly critical of the part played by the media:
– What the local papers did here on Gotland was a pure demonstration of power, by the media and the entire establishment, and against the victim and the Gotlanders who have had enough.
Not all reactions were directed against the suspected rapists, however. A demonstration was later held by members of the Left Party and the Feminist Initiative, many of them brought in by bus from the mainland, where they protested against the “racism” displayed by people like Camilla. According to their banners, the demonstrators were “against sexism and racism”, but it was widely seen as a demonstration in support of the asylum-seeking suspects.
Julia Caesar shared this view:
– I think it’s disgusting and obscene. To demonstrate “against sexism and racism”, after something like this, a gang rape, is to side with the perpetrators. How can anyone defend that? I don’t understand.

What a bloody shame. What a bloody shame. There is a concerted effort to let these migrants commit crimes with impunity. What the hell are these European leaders up to?
