Trump has now called for two US intelligence agencies to be “slimmed down” in a restructuring effort, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal.
On Wednesday the WSJ said Trump was looking into an overhaul of at least two major intelligence agencies.
The CIA as well as the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) are political tools, according to an insider: “The view from the Trump team is the intelligence world [is] becoming completely politicized. They all need to be slimmed down. The focus will be on restructuring agencies and how they interact.”
Sources close to Trump say that the new president believes that the bloated ODNI, which was another fallout of the 9/11 attacks, is so overtly politicized, it needs to be restructured as soon as possible.
The CIA has a long history of fabricating intelligence, meddling in domestic and foreign politics, and manipulation of global events to suit an agenda, including carrying out and aiding political assassinations and military coups.
Trump’s desire to curb the power of the agency is not new. President John F. Kennedy famously said he wished to “splinter the CIA into a thousand pieces and scatter it into the winds” after the Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba.
JFK was assassinated soon after his pronouncement, many believe at the behest of CIA.
In a tweet sent out Wednesday, the president-elect expressed solidarity with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange’s assertion that the DNC email released by WikiLeaks were not obtained by Russia or indeed any state actor.
