Donald Trump has received some unexpected support, albeit indirectly.
The “manslayer”, singer Madonna has boosted Trump’s chances of a win after in invitation to perform oral sex on people who voted for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
The offer, that most would refuse, was made on Monday night during a performance at Madison Square Garden. “If you vote for Hillary Clinton, I will give you a blowjob, OK?”
Apart from the tasteless offer, she also sounded the depths of crudeness. “And I’m good. I’m good. I’m not a douche and I’m not a tool. I take my time,” Madonna told the audience. “I have a lot of eye contact, yeah. And I do swallow.”
The aging singer must have been desperate for an attention-grabber, but was it legal? Election laws prohibit vote-buying.
“It is generally illegal to exchange anything of value for [a] vote,” Judith Ingram of the Federal Election Commission told TheWrap.
Specifically, Title 52 of the U.S. Code bars the exchange of payment for a vote, or even voter registration, in a number of elections, including presidential and vice presidential races. The law prohibits the mere offer of a payment.
Those found in violation “shall be fined not more than $10,000 or imprisoned not more than five years, or both,” according to Title 52. The bribe may include anything of “monetary value”.
