Spiked tensions inside FBI may have launched fresh Clinton investigation

The surprise disclosure that FBI agents are taking a new look at Clinton’s email use, just days ahead of the election, have spiked tensions inside the bureau and the Justice Department over how to investigate the Democratic presidential nominee, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Investigators have seized emails related to the Clinton investigation found on the computer of disgraced Democratic congressman Anthony Weiner and his wife Abedin.

It appears that Abedin sent some emails through Clinton’s illegal private server which was used to conduct classified state business. Investigators will review the Abedin emails related to the Clinton case.

According to the Times the Federal Bureau of Investigation will review some 650 000 emails found on Weiner’s computer in the freshly re-opened Clinton saga. The Wall Street Journal reported earlier on Sunday that the FBI had been awaiting a court order to launch the search. Thousands of the emails in question may have been “sent to or from” Clinton’s private server.

CBS News reported earlier this week that even Comey’s superior, Attorney General Loretta Lynch, current Attorney General of the United States and in charge of the Justice Department, was at odds with Comey’s decision to inform Congressional leaders about re-opening the case.

Republican contender, Donald Trump said he believes Lynch threatened FBI Director James Comey not to make public his “bombshell letter” about a new investigation into Hillary’s emails.

After citing a telling statistic that 97% of the Department of Justice employees’ political donations go to Hillary Clinton, Trump put forth the proposition that Bill Clinton was offering Lynch an extension of her appointment as Attorney General. He did not suggest as others have recently, that protecting Hillary Clinton from federal prosecution over her email practices might require an extraordinary reward, such as a Supreme Court appointment.

Lynch objected to the disclosure and urged him to follow DOJ protocol to avoid actions that could influence the outcome of a presidential election, ABC News reported, citing sources with knowledge of the situation.

Comey sent the letter to House and Senate committee leaders despite Lynch’s recommendations.

In yet another twist CBS News has learned that Abedin, Clinton’s longtime confidant, says she has no knowledge of any of her emails being on the electronic device belonging to her estranged husband, disgraced ex-congressman Weiner.

By all appearances Abedin lied under oath about having turned over all mobile devices and laptops to the FBI, the Daily Beast reported. Earlier this year, Abedin, under oath in a sworn deposition, said she had given up all relevant electronic devices she had used for emails relating to her work at Clinton’s State Department.

An attorney with Judicial Watch, the conservative-leaning watchdog group, questioned Abedin during a deposition in June, “How did you go about searching for what records you may have in your possession to be returned to the State Department?”

“I looked for all the devices that may have any of my State Department work on it and returned — returned — gave them to my attorneys for them to review for all relevant documents. And gave them devices and paper,” Abedin replied.

A source familiar with the investigation told CBS News that the computer where FBI investigators found the latest trove of emails belonged to Weiner, not Abedin. The two separated earlier this year, following news of Weiner’s continued sexting practices.

On Saturday, as investigators struggled to obtain a warrant to examine Abedin’s emails, some Democratis insiders maintained that no one within the FBI was believed to have read them, but it does not however explain Comey’s move to re-open the case.

The emails in question were first discovered after the FBI began their investigation of Weiner, who was placed under scrutiny in September because of a sexting scandal involving a minor, suggesting that the FBI must have had intimate knowledge of what was on the computer’s hard drive.

Early in October New York-based FBI officials notified Andrew McCabe, the bureau’s second-in-command, that while investigating Weiner for possibly sending sexually charged messages to a teenage minor, other material was found.

But because the FBI had searched the computer looking for child pornography, insider sources told WSJ, the warrant gave them no authority to search for matters related to Clinton’s email arrangement at the State Department.

In an initial review of the laptop, the metadata showed thousands of messages that were either sent to or from the private email server at Clinton’s home.

Sources speaking with Infowars say an internal struggle at the FBI haa reached boiling point following Director Comey’s original decision not to pursue criminal charges. Comey cited “recent developments” for the bureau’s decision Friday in a letter to lawmakers.

“In previous congressional testimony, I referred to the fact that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had completed its investigation of former Secretary Clinton’s personal email server. Due to recent developments, I am writing to supplement my previous testimony,” Comey stated.
