PayPal founder Thiel exposes lie of ‘diversity’
PayPal co-founder and venture capitalist Peter Thiel is backing Donald Trump for president, he told the National Press Club in Washington on Monday, and is unmoved by calls for "diversity".

He questioned the real meaning of the term “diversity” and specifically called out a leading LGBT magazine, The Advocate, for running an op-ed that questioned whether Thiel, a prominent gay conservative, could still be considered gay for backing Trump.
“The lie behind the buzzword of diversity could not be made more clear,” Thiel said on Monday. “If you don’t conform, then you don’t count as diverse, no matter what your personal background.”The tech entrepreneur regards Trump as the best choice in the presidential race because Trump is averse to more wars, and ready to fix the problems caused by international trade and government regulations hurting the economy.
Thiel is facing a barrage of criticism because of his financial support of Republican’s presidential campaign, but he struck back on Monday, raging against the Washington and Silicon Valley elites.
He is one of the lone Donald Trump supporters in Silicon Valley, expanded his support for the GOP candidate by stating Trump represents a populist movement that’s bigger than his candidacy.
Thiel said the elites were impervious to the economic difficulties afflicting many Americans and added that liberals and journalists behaved like easily distracted children.
He also believes the Trump phenomenon is here to stay. “No matter what happens in this election, what Trump represents isn’t crazy and it’s not going away,” he told the National Press Club. “He points toward a new Republican Party beyond the dogmas of Reaganism.”
“He points even beyond the remaking of one party to a new American politics that overcomes denial, rejects bubble thinking and reckons with reality.”
Although he says Trump might not be the perfect candidate, he’s a good start.
“I don’t agree with everything Donald Trump has said and done — and I don’t think the millions of other people voting for him do, either,” he stated. “It’s not a lack of judgment that leads Americans to vote for Trump; we’re voting for Trump because we judge the leadership of our country to have failed.”
“…Just as much as it’s about making America great, Trump’s agenda is about making America a normal country.” A normal country is one not drowning in debt, Thiel added.
“A normal country doesn’t have a half-trillion-dollar trade deficit,” he continued. “A normal country doesn’t fight five simultaneous undeclared wars. In a normal country, the government actually does its job.”
Thiel said he would have preferred a showdown between Trump and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders: “I’ve always had a bias for outsider candidates.”
