One speaker likened a united Western front against the Takfiri’s as similar to the one during the Second World War.
During the speeches, the crowd chanted Allahu Akbar and cheered speakers calling for a global caliphate, Breitbart London reported. They also suggested that Syrian president Assad was too friendly with the US.
A poet invited to talk shouted: “We need a Caliph who will clean up these streets. Who will smack up armies and who will back beef [fighting]. Backhand your missiles back to your land, that’s the plan. World domination at hand. We can expand and take out these fools.”
The crowd largely segregated into men and women listening to the speeches which lasted almost an hour.
The speed at which the large gathering assembled in only a few hours, was alarming. Haitham al-Hadad, a Saudi-trained Salafist Muslim, actually congratulated his audience on convening so rapidly and in such large numbers. “This gathering today – in a matter of a few hours, hundreds of brothers and sisters coming together – is a sign of positivity and revival, and a sign of victory for Allah,” he said, suggesting that the mosques in the city had organised the anti-Western protest.
Asim Qureshi, director of the Muslim rights group CAGE, who once called Jihadi John ‘beautiful’, laid the blame for the situation in Aleppo at America’s door, saying: “Never forget who is the problem here.”
The street outside the empty Syrian embassy in Belgrave Square, London, had to be closed off to crowds eventually cheering in support of calls for war.
The protesters said they did not support the British government, while also cheering speeches by Moazzam Begg of CAGE, editor of 5Pillars Dilly Hussain, and Hizb ut-Tahrir member Ibtihal Bsis, The British daily Express reported.
The Syrian embassy has been empty since May 2012 when the Syrian ambassador to the UK was expelled by the British government.
Many protesters were waving the Taliban flag, while others were handed placards made by Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain, calling for the reestablishment of a caliphate, Breitbart reported.
