The response of the Russian Embassy in London to Barack Obama’s announcement that he was expelling 35 Russian diplomats from the US was quick and humerous.
As officials in Moscow responded by saying that US diplomats would be ordered to leave in a tit-for-tat response, the Russian Embassy in Kensington Palace Gardens tweeted its amusement.
The Russian Embassy in London mocked Obama’s move by tweeting a picture of a duck with the word ‘lame’ typed across it.
“President Obama expels 35 US diplomats in Cold War deja vu. Everybody, including the American people, will be glad to see the last of this hapless administration,” it said.

President Obama on Thursday sanctioned Russian intelligence services and their top officials, by kicking out 35 Russian officials and closed down two Russian-owned compounds in the US. It has been the strongest retaliation from the Obama administration taken to date.
But the Russian response from London was to remind Obama of how ineffectual and unsuccessful his foreign policy has been.
On a more serious note, Russia’s Ambassador to Israel, Aleksandr Shein, was hospitalized in Tel Aviv after feeling unwell at a lunch on Thursday, Ynetnews reported.
Shein was brought to the intensive care unit of the Ichilov Hospital. Deputy ambassador Alexey Drobinin has confirmed to the outlet that Shein was now feeling “fine”. There was no comment from the embassy immediately available.
The news of Shein’s malaise comes in the wake of the assassination in Ankara of Russian envoy to Turkey, ambassador Andrei Karlov.
Karlov was shot several times and killed while giving a public speech at an art exhibition in the Turkish capital.
