Russian Duma deputy in Crimea defends traditional parenthood
The Russian Duma Deputy and former prosecutor general of the Crimea has spoken to journalists about the launch of her new book as well as her view of how Russia defends traditional parenthood.

Natalia Poklonskaya says a bill was submitted for consideration by a member of the Federation Council to prohibit surrogate motherhood.
She launched a poll on her social networks asking people to express their opinion, and people in general supported the ban on surrogate motherhood, she says.
Russia is a country that defends traditional values and morality, according to Poklonskaya.
In some European countries, on the other hand, children have a “parent one” and “parent two” as opposed to a mother and father for the sake of “gender equality”. W
“But where is the spirituality of the family? In Russia, we don’t have this – in Ukraine, we don’t have this,” she said.
“We have a Mom and Dad. And this must be protected. These are our traditions, our values. Therefore, people voted against surrogacy.
“There are medical conditions when parents can not have children, so they turn to surrogacy – but that’s a different matter. Overall, the public wants to defend their moral and traditional values.”
Poklonskaya has become one of the symbols of modern Crimea. Before the Maidan protests began, Poklonskaya worked at the Ukrainian General Directorate of Internal Affairs in Kiev, but on February 25, 2014, Poklonskaya handed in her resignation letter.
Because she harshly has criticized the Euromaidain coup-installed Ukrainian government, a criminal case was opened against her in Ukraine.
Poklonskaya has become an icon for Japanese cartoonist and animators who have been struck by her beauty.
A RIA Novosti correspondent asked her how she felt about celebrating her own birthday on the same day that Crimea reunited with Russia. Poklonskaya responded: “For me it means happiness and pride. Moreover, my dream came true and we returned home and now live in the most wonderful and the best country in the world — in Russia and it all happened on my birthday.”
