Everyone indulging in “kinky” behaviour may now count on being part of the movement.
The Washington Times reported that some members of the gay-rights community have added the letter ‘K,’ for “kink,” to the ever-expanding acronym of sexual identities.
The official acronym is now LGBTQQICAPF2K+ according to the magazine The Gay UK. That stands for “Lesbian,” “Gay,” “Bisexual,” “Transgender,” “Queer,” “Questioning,” “Intersex,” “Curious,” “Asexual,” “Agender,” “Ally,” “Pansexual,” “Polysexual,” “Friends and family,” “Two-spirit” and “Kink.”
According to The Gay UK, the acronym has been expanding since the 90s “out of a need to move away from the limiting “gay community'”and to “encompass any community that defines itself as anything but heterosexual or cisgender”.
But not all members of the “community” are on board with the new letter addition.
Claire Heuchan, a self-described black radical feminist who blogs under the name Sister Outrider, said people with kinks can’t be in the movement because they do not face “any structural or systemic discrimination as a result of those proclivities”.
She complained that several identities listed in the acronym were just “straight people wishing to exceptionalise their heterosexuality”.
“If the rainbow umbrella covers absolutely everyone, it’s meaningless. It’s just an umbrella, as opposed to specific shelter designed to protect marginalised people,” she tweeted.
Other members and observers of the LGBT+ community also voiced their displeasure with the addition.
Three months ago, the Canadian Elementary Teachers of Toronto had a “sensitivity training” aimed at catering to “LGBDTTTIQQAAP” people.
The Canadian national anthem also became gender-neutral this week, after a bill that changes the lyrics passed the country’s Senate.
The second line of “O Canada,” which has said the nation inspires patriotism “in all thy sons,” has been changed to “in all of us.”
According to the CBC, “Since 1980, when O Canada officially became the country’s anthem, 12 bills have been introduced in the House to strip the gendered reference to ‘sons,’ which some have argued is discriminatory.”

You learn something everyday, I had to look some of those up. Wish I hadn’t, some things I’d rather not know. But they could simplify things, just say they’re all Queers engaged in Kink, and be done with it.
Sounds like totally diversified clusterfvck, who knew, lol.
