Cost of housing immigrants in Paris has reached 1 million euros per day
In the Île-de-France region around Paris, the cost of migrants accommodated by the State in hotels has reached nearly one million euros per day with accommodation centers literally saturated.

So much so that of the 130 000 places intended for the reception of migrants, nearly 40 percent are hotel rooms, indicated a survey done by daily le Parisien. In recent years, the numbers have been steadily increasing. While in 2015, 35 000 people were accommodated in hotels in the Paris region, the daily number of overnight stays stood at more than 53 000 in October last year already.
Christine Laconde, general manager of the Samu social service in Paris, which has set up a dedicated service, called Delta, said a hundred people work full time to find hotel rooms available and manage reservations for several Ile-de-France departments. The “average cost of a night at 21 euros” in Paris and 18 euros on average in the region.
The total bill to be paid at 643 hotels in Ile-de-France is nearly 1 million euros each night, which is 300 million euros per year. On average, people staying at a hotel stay there for two and a half years. But “half have been there for more than two years, said Laconde.
