A police officer in northwest Minneapolis, in the US, fatally shot a black man on Sunday afternoon, inflaming simmering tensions between police and black community members in the midst of the Derek Chauvin trial.

Relatives of Daunte Wright, 20, incited protesters to march on the Brooklyn Center police headquarters on Sunday night. The riots started after Wright, with an outstanding arrest warrant, tried to flee during a traffic stop to avoid being taken into custody and was shot.
Officers repeatedly ordered the mob to disperse but eventually used tear gas, flash bangs and rubber bullets to push hundreds of angry black protesters back. The Minnesota National Guard had already been deployed earlier for the Chauvin trial. Chauvin, a former Minneapolis police officer, is being charged with murdering George Floyd by depriving him of oxygen despite a coroner’s report stating that Floyd’s death had been due to a drug overdose.
Governor Tim Walz said he was “praying for Daunte Wright’s family as our state mourns another life of a black man taken by law enforcement”. In the wake of the shooting black looters targeted a Walmart and nearby shopping mall. At the mall, they looted liquor stores, black wig shops, and trainer shoe stores.
BLM riots have been a lucrative affair, also in terms of funding. It may be one of the easiest ways for family members of a deceased criminal to become instant millionaires. George Floyd’s memorial campaign on GoFundMe for example received the most donations of all time, according to TMZ. The memorial fund counted donations from people in 140 countries worldwide. Also, the Associated Press reported that the city of Minneapolis agreed to pay $27 million to settle a civil lawsuit from Floyd’s family over his death in police custody.
Black Lives Matter co-founder has been on a real estate-buying binge, picking up four high-end homes for $3.2 million in the US alone, according to property records. During the last BLM riot season, the group raised $10.6 billion from Corporate America.
