The new British Labour government is facing a national challenge – and is desperately trying to regain control.
Now the government under Prime Minister Keir Starmer wants to take action against knife violence as part of a joint initiative with actor Idris Elba. Home Secretary Yvette Cooper, families of victims and young people affected are also participating in the alliance, which was recently presented at the Prime Minister’s office in Downing Street in London. Technology companies, sports organizations, the health service and the police also want to get involved.
“Knife crime is a national crisis that we must tackle head-on,” Starmer told X. “Our coalition to tackle knife crime brings together politicians, families of victims, young people and local leaders to drive forward our mission to take back our streets and halve knife crime over the next decade.”
“We need to address the causes of knife violence, not just the symptoms,” said Idris Elba. However, the British public do not expect any tangible results from the initiative, because the aim is to investigate the causes with the help of the usual wilfully blind “experts” who stubbornly refuse to address migration.
The British government recently launched an appeal for people to voluntarily hand in so-called “zombie knives” to police stations in advance of a corresponding change in the law and receive a reward for doing so.
