AfD to set up their own newsroom to counter fake news
The parliamentary group of the anti-immigration Alternative for Germany (AfD) party is going to take responsibility of its own media relations.

The parliamentary group of the anti-immigration Alternative for Germany (AfD) party is going to take responsibility of its own media relations.
Communication will be done through the AfD’s own newsroom scheduled to be launched in spring. AfD parliamentary leader Alice Weidel said on Thursday that by doing so, misinterpretations of party’s positions by mainstream media would no longer be possible.
“As long as the AfD is ignored by many media or deliberately targeted by fake news, this is the only way,” Weidel told Focus magazine, after the party’s decision.
A separate TV studio will also be set up in the parliamentary rooms of the AfD at the Jakob Kaiser House in Berlin.
Citing sources from parliamentary groups, it appears that some 20 other employees will be responsible for communication, according to the publication, in addition to the new press office.
The operation of the AfD newsroom will run be similar journalistic editorial offices.
The AfD newsroom will be focused on the dissemination of AfD content on social media and employees will be required to work around the clock in shifts.
The AfD, established in 2013, entered the Bundestag for the first time following the September election.
AfD representatives have repeatedly backed the scrapping of anti-Russia sanctions and have come out in support of Crimea’s reunification with Russia.
It has been three months since the 92 AfD representatives first took their place in which the other factions had the opportunity to examine the AfD’s strategy.
But in three months no simple response to the questions raised by the anti-immigration party have come to the fore in the Bundestag. It will not get any easier for its detractors when the party becomes the strongest opposition to a renewed grand coalition.
When Beatrix von Storch, a top AfD politician, asked the CDU member Nadine Schön if the re-examination those posing as minors was a good idea, Schön answered “yes”.
But the CDU member refused to vote for the AfD motion, because “the word ‘help’ does not even appear”. To most, her excuse sounded lame at best.
AfD politician Stefan Keuter asked the Union, Greens, SPD and FDP: “Aren’t you embarrassed?” when they had wanted to pass the yearly automatic expense raises.
There was lively debate on dual citizenship on Friday in the Bundestag when AfD representative Gottfried Curio said: “A routinely degraded double passport undermines the state and democracy.” He called the Integration Officer, Ayden Özoguz “a classic example of failed integration”.
In his speech, Curio warned against a “Little Anatolia in Germany and said dual citizenship had “put the fox in charge of the henhouse”. The Green politician Anton Hofreiter beceme red in the face and started shouting throughout Curio’s speech. “Shame on you!” and “Have you no decency?” he screamed.
Thuringia’s AfD leader, Björn Höcke said Germany should not be accepting any more refugees. “It’s not about agreeing to an upper limit on illegal economic immigrants,” said Höcke on Saturday at a state party convention in Arnstadt. Rather, he said, it was about keeping the number per year to zero. “And it is about making those already living here ‘fit for return’.”
Islam should be forced back out of Europe he said. “To me, Turkey just does not belong in Europe,” adding that was not interested in making any compromises with the “old parties”.
