Trump’s approval ratings have hit record lows

Conducted from Friday through to Sunday, the Politico/Morning Consult poll showed a 39 percent approval rating. Even in mid-August 2017, in the wake of violence in Charlottesville, Trump received a 44 percent rating.

That translates into almost 6 in 10 American voters, or 57 percent, disapproving of Trump’s leadership.

President Trump’s approval rating dropped 3 percentage points following the release of special counsel Robert Mueller’s report on Russian collusion, marking the lowest level of 2019, according to another poll.

The Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Friday, showed that about 37 percent of adults surveyed said they approved of Trump’s performance in office, down from 40 percent in a similar poll conducted on April 15, before the Mueller report’s release.

One explanation for Trump’s slump in the polls, is because his supporters are starting to turn on him. Forty percent if those polled said Trump should be ousted, while 42 percent said the House should not begin impeachment proceedings.

Fox News host Tucker Carlson maintains that the Russia probe by Special Council Robert Mueller succeeded in its goal of forcing Donald Trump to bow down to the globalist agenda.

“In the ways that matter most, the Russia probe did end his presidency,” Tucker said. He listed the failings of the current administration:

An election that should have realigned our political process and changed this country had almost no effect. Two years later, virtually nothing has changed.

Millions are still flooding over our border from the third world, they’re encouraged by an army of nonprofits that instruct them to subvert and mock our laws.

The opioid epidemic rages on as horrible and as horrifying and destructive as ever.

Suicides are up.

Our troops are still bogged down in Syria and Afghanistan and many other places.

Goldman Sachs still controls our economy.

Tech companies are still spying on you and crushing your freedom of speech.

You can still have your life ruined for supporting the wrong candidate in public or for believing there are two genders.

Most ominous of all and most often ignored: Americans are dying younger and having fewer children.

None of this was ever resolved. None of it was ever talked about.

The President’s unusual anti-American foreign policy has also put the US on a collision course with China after a decision to broaden the crackdown on Iranian oil exports. US sanction waivers were granted to China and seven other countries last year, but are set to expire on May 2. The other countries are India, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Turkey, Italy and Greece.

Beijing on Monday criticised the Trump administration’s announcement that it would punish countries that buy oil from Iran. China is one of the world’s biggest importers of Iranian oil, along with India.

“China opposes the unilateral sanctions and so-called ‘long-arm jurisdictions’ imposed by the US,” Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang told the media on Monday. “Our cooperation with Iran is open, transparent, lawful and legitimate, thus it should be respected,” he said.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo warned that countries buying crude from Iran beyond the May deadline would have to face the consequences. “We’ve made clear if you don’t abide by this there will be sanctions,” he told CNN.

China and Turkey will both struggle to reduce their Iranian oil supplies. “I think China and Turkey will be the two that will be the most worrisome, and will be the most vexed by this action,” the global head of energy analysis at the Oil Price Information Service said, describing the US move as “very disruptive”.

On Tuesday China warned that the US decision to impose sanctions on buyers of Iranian oil will “intensify turmoil” in the Middle East and in the international energy market.

South Korea has also relied heavily on Iranian petroleum, especially oil condensate used to produce petrochemical products.

The country imported 2.4 million tons of condensate from Iran in the first quarter of this year according to the Korea Petrochemical Industry Association (KPIA), which is more than 30 percent of its total purchases.
