Every state in the country has now been declared major disaster area by President Donald Trump. According to Deputy Press Secretary Judd Deere, this is a first for the US.
On Saturday Wyoming was the last to join all other US states, making federal funding and services for emergency assistance available for local governments and non-profit organisations, the White House said.
The governor of Wyoming had formally requested the declaration for his state in a letter to the president on Thursday.
The most affected area in the US is New York City with a death toll of 9 385, the latest figures of the city Health Department show. Sunday was the sixth straight day of more than 700 deaths. The record fatality rate was 799 on April 9.
Cases reached 188 694, a rise of 8 236, the state Department of Health reported, about a tenth of reported cases around the world, according to Bloomberg.
