Le Pen refused entry to camp as migrants swarm back to Calais

Le Pen was barred from entering because the leftist pro-immigration mayor is apparently afraid of what the FN leader might encounter.

The camp has sprung up not far from the notorious Jungle in Calais. The Jungle was demolished by authorities recently, but the migrant problem remains as immigrants who had been moved away at great cost to French taxpayers, have returned to the area once again.

Damien Careme, the local mayor and Ecological-Green Party (EELV) member, tweeted that Le Pen had been turned away because she “dared to visit”. Careme tried to justify the cover-up by saying: “I am the one who denied Marine Le Pen entry to the Grande-Synthe refugee camp – she had the audacity to show up without prior warning!” adding, “humanity is a value that she ignores”.

Le Pen arrived at the camp, run by charity Utopia 56, unannounced. Had she made prior arrangements, she would not have seen the real state of the camp, she says. “They only show you what they want to show you”, she told French broadcaster BFMTV.

On Twitter Le Pen remarked about the incident “This is democracy in France: only pro-immigrant officials are allowed to visit migrant camps!” She argued that if the visit had been announced beforehand, she would have been given a very different tour.

After being refused entry, Le Pen held a press conference outside the migrant camp: “We tell immigrants that we don’t want them to come to France, but at the same time, we encourage the ones that are here to stay.”

The FN leader called on the authorities to stop providing migrants with “false hope” by sending mixed signals, according to The Express.

“We are facilitating their entry into the UK by setting up camps near the border”. She later tweeted: “Calais is a martyred town that has been crushed by the migrant crisis. Immigrants are returning to Calais; the situation there has become intolerable. We must take back control of our borders.”

The French government has failed to stop the influx of asylum seekers with their incoherent policy, Le Pen said.

Patricia Chagnon, a French municipal councilor and member of the National Front, told RT that by refusing access to the camp for one of the major presidential hopefuls, the French authorities were infringing on democracy.

“She is a candidate for the presidential elections, she wants to have a first-hand experience and sight of how the life is inside this camp. And we can only be extremely concerned about the fact that she was not able to go inside,” Chagnon added.

While a French presidential frontrunner is being barred from entering a migrant camp in her own country, former American Baywatch star Pamela Anderson was recently given a carefully choreographed “tour” of the Grand Synthe.

Anderson’s trip was organised by animal rights activists Peta France. “I am here in Calais helping asylum seekers deserving of protection,” Anderson declared, repeating the message the leftists are keen to spread.
