He singled out The New York Times on Fox and Friends during his interview with Ainsley Earhardt.
The excessive negative coverage of Trump’s presidency has been ongoing. When Earhardt asked the president if “the press” should be considered the enemy of the people, Trump said no, but he pointed out that “fake news” was.
“The fake news is comprised of – it’s a lot, it’s a big chunk, okay? Somebody said, ‘What’s the chunk?’ I said 80 percent. It’s a lot, it’s a lot.”
“If I do something well, it’s not reported – other than in the 20 percent,” Trump explained. He called out The New York Times, an influential newspaper which flatly refuses to publish balanced reports.
“The New York Times cannot write a good story about me. They’re crazed. They’re like lunatics.”
The president graded his presidency as worthy of an “A+” so far, but added that the only issue he fails at, was with the media.
“I thought after I won – you know, they killed me during the campaign, just killed me. I said, ‘Well one good thing about winning, I’ve showed them, so now I’m gonna get fair press.’ Guess what? It got worse. It’s worse.”
The Senate which is mostly Republican, favours Trump, but the media has been ignoring positive predictors of election outcomes.
“And I guess you could say that our numbers in winning whether it’s for the Senate, or for Congress, or for governor has been very good,” Trump said.
Trump insisted that the press refuses to cover the good economic news of his administration: “They like to cover nonsense.”
But the American president said he was used to controversy. “I’ve always had controversy in my life and I’ve always succeeded. I’ve always won. I’ve always won.”
