When asked about Donald Trump’s voter fraud assertions on Tuesday, Obama responded by ridiculing the Republican candidate, saying that US elections were run and monitored by local officials, who may well have been appointed by Republican governors.
He added that cases of significant voter fraud have never been found during American elections.
Obama cast Trump’s claims of a rigged election as potentially corrosive to American democracy, insisting that the Republican presidential nominee was griping about an “invented conspiracy”.
Obama spoke during a news conference in the White House Rose Garden, adding that Trump’s concern was “not based on facts” and stated unequivocally that “no serious” person who would even suggest such a thing.
Curiously “serious” persons from the Democratic Party have actually vigorously been insisting that the current election cycle is being rigged… by Russia, who they maintain, is trying to manipulate the outcome to suit Trump.
Just a few weeks ago Harry Reid, Senate minority leader, wrote to FBI Director James Comey to request that the bureau launch no less than a public investigation into the possibility that the Russian government will attempt to “tamper” with results of this year’s US presidential election.
“I have recently become concerned that the threat of the Russian government tampering in our presidential election is more extensive than widely known and may include the intent to falsify official election results,” Reid writes in the letter, first reported by The New York Times.
In an interview with the Times, Reid even said that “classified briefings” had led him to believe Vladimir Putin planned on “tampering with this election”.
In his letter, Reid pointed to news reports that voter registration systems in Arizona and Illinois were targeted by hackers. But despite Reid’s claims that “Russians” were involved, there was no reason to believe the hacks could have altered the results of an election.
More recently, the most “serious” person, Hillary Clinton expressed her very “real concern” about Russia meddling in US elections following the hacking attacks at the Democratic National Committee this summer.
“I’m really concerned about the credible reports about Russian government interference in our elections,” she told reporters aboard her new campaign plane.
The Democratic presidential nominee said that the fact that US intelligence officials are looking into Russia’s role so far in hacking attacks “raises some grave questions about potential Russian interference with our electoral process”.
At least one “serious” official from the National Security Agency (NSA) told NBC News recently that Russian intelligence agencies were part of some hacking attempts. Several other officials told NBC News that they haven’t confirmed the Russian government’s involvement, but nevertheless remain “concerned”.
While rigging the election seems to be impossible when it is in favor of Hillary Clinton, the same does not apply for Donald Trump.
In 2000 George W. Bush was “elected” by an “inconclusive” recount and a Supreme Court decision.
The outcome of a US presidential election can actually depend on very few votes in only a few localities. The various machines and processes used in US elections could easily be manipulated since the average voter has no idea how the votes are counted electronically nor how the results are obtained.
Clinton World does not inspire confidence when it comes to rigging elections: The Democratic National Committee’s underhanded and unscrupulous swindle against Bernie Sanders is a case in point. The DNC actively conspired against Sanders to ensure the nomination for Hillary. Wikileaks revelations exposed the fact that there was nothing very democratic about the Democratic Party, and while the sentinels of the liberal media derided all allegations of a DNC conspiracy to get rid of Bernie, they fell eerily silent as the scam by Debbie Wasserman-Schultz surfaced.
And despite insufferable Hollywood endorsements, the “conspiracy theories” of a rigged Democratic vote were all proven true.
Creating a Russian boogeyman without much evidence to back loud assertions by Democratic surrogates, may be yet another machination by a side well capable of considering and implementing some election shenanigans. Neither parties in Washington are strangers to foul methods and deception.
The German Constitutional Court has prohibited the use of voting machines in German elections because of irreproducible vote counting which leads to a general loss of trust in the democratic process. The price to pay for using voting machines is legitimacy. A return to paper-ballots and manual vote counting might be less prone to manipulations because a recount would be possible.
Experience in other countries show that it is also almost as fast as machine counting.
