The police registered five attacks in Berlin alone, and three in Cologne. A collection of news reports in Germany suggest that knife attacks are on the rise.
According to police, many “men” in Cologne attacked each other at night in Cologne on the night of Sunday. In the process, a 43-year-old participant was seriously injured by knife wounds. He died later in hospital. The police arrested two suspects and a murder commission has started their investigation.
Likewise in Cologne and only a short time later, a dispute escalated during a birthday party in the district of Kalk. A 49-year-old man entered the bar around 3 o’clock, which led to a confrontation with a 29-year-old. Meanwhile, the alleged perpetrator stabbed at the father of the young man, who was mortally wounded. The investigation into attempted manslaughter has turned into a murder.
At about the same time, a 25-year-old man was attacked with a knife in a run in a club in the city center. The victim suffered minor injuries. The alleged perpetrator was able to escape.
In Berlin on Saturday in the district of Spandau, a man was mortally wounded with a knife. “Because many acquaintances and relatives of the 42-year-old rushed to the hospital, the main entrance area of the hospital and the rescue center had to be closed off for more than two hours,” the police said on Sunday. At about the same time, rescue workers took a second injured person suffering from stab wounds to a hospital. The police assume a connection.
In Berlin-Wedding, a man stabbed a 29-year-old on a flea market on Saturday morning. Numerous witnesses watched the incident and told the police about a loud argument that had preceded the attack. The alleged perpetrator fled. An emergency operation saved the victim’s life, police said.
A few hours later, in the crime-prone Görlitzer Park, a dispute arose between a man from Gambia, a Moroccan and an Algerian. The Gambian stabbed at his two opponents and injured their arms and legs. Wounded witnesses detained the suspect, the police reported. The park is considered the focus of the drug scene. In the middle of last week one drug dealer had been injured by another with a knife.
Also on Sunday evening, the police were called after a knife attack. Two young men in the district Marzahn knocked on the door of a ground floor apartment. Shortly thereafter, when the 46-year-old resident wanted to confront the two youths, one of them took out a knife and attacked the man. His colleague hit the resident with a stick against his neck, police said.
The victim was slightly injured. It described one of the attackers as from the Indian subcontinent. They were between 16 and 18 years old. The police are looking for witnesses.
Already on Friday evening a 46 year old man was attacked by an armed Turk in a brothel in Rosenheim. The suspect entered the brothel in the late evening, police said. Because he was not satisfied with the services provided, he left the building and announced that he would return and kill everyone.
According to the first investigation, the Turk drove home and armed himself with two kitchen knives.
“His son saw this, but could not stop his father, and followed him,” said a police spokesman. When the suspect was back at the brothel a short time later, he stabbed a friend of the brothel operator, who had to be treated for several stabbing injuries.
