Allegedly, Dutch children at the Islamic school were taught in secret by a very controversial sharia scholar.
According to the intelligence services, this was the Brit [Haitham] El-Haddad, a known radical. He feels that apostates deserve the death penalty as well as Muslim women in the West who committed adultery. They should be sent to an Islamic country to be stoned there.
The school itself denies that El-Haddad taught there. They say “he only walked around the place”.
Of course, the Haga lyceum is under pressure already because of the board’s alleged ties with a terrorist organisation revealed by the newspaper NRC in a detailed report.
“That is in effect inciting terrorism in the Netherlands,” said a education specialist interviewed by Dutch public broadcaster NPO.
“If, as a school, you invite such a person, a reprehensible, horrible man, you lose your right to receive grants, support from government.
“They just have to close such a school down. Very quickly.” Another education official supported the closing down of the Islamic school. “Yes, this is very worrying. A school should offer a safe environment for children. Those children have to enter the big wide world at some point, as strong, beautiful citizens with a cosmopolitan outlook.
“And then they’re visited by such a creep — that’s the only word that comes to mind. It’s up to the inspectors to intervene.”
