Last May, a brigadier from Rouen organised a rendezvous with a man at the police station in the city. Except that the guardian of the peace tried to have sex with the wrong person, and is now being charged with sexual assault.
Despite this, on Tuesday, July 30, France Bleu revealed that the sexual predator was awarded the Medal of Internal Security.
The police officer, a brigadier, is currently facing a double investigation. The first case is not clear, since he had no intention of sexually assaulting the man he had locked in his office. But in the second case, an administrative one, it could be much more serious.
Indeed, the brigadier is also a self-styled entrepreneur of alarm systems, and he is suspected of certain activities to enrich his client file. The police inspectorate, the IGPN is in charge of this second investigation, and will be drawing its conclusions in Autumn.
However, according to France Bleu, the name of the guardian of the peace appears on the list of the police decorated with the medal of the Internal Security. The list was drawn up in January, but signed off on June 16 by the Minister of the Interior Christophe Castaner, notably well after both the criminal and administrative procedures were launched against the accused.
Meanwhile, the brigadier is off work. He was transferred to another department and will most probably be disciplined in November.
The internal security code also provides for the withdrawal of any medal in case of “final conviction for a crime or offense, or disciplinary action of the recipient” or if one of the medalists is found guilty of acts contrary to ethics.
