In his remarks in the Washington Post, Boot called white America a “reprehensible episode” in the history of the country.
“A few decades from now, when the entire country is majority-minority, the Trump era will be seen as a sad last gasp of white resistance – a reprehensible episode” that will be recounted alongside some other negatively perceived historic events.
Last year, Boot praised “hard-working Latin American” illegal immigrants that should replace “contemptible Republican cowards” in order to “enhance America’s greatness”.
Jennifer Rubin, another neoconservative who writes for the Washington Post, shared Boot’s quote on Twitter, adding, “yes!”
In February 2017, neoconservative political analyst Bill Kristol called for “lazy” white Americans to be replaced by non-white immigrants, saying the “lazy, spoiled” white working class should be replaced by “new Americans” who “really want to work hard”.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) has begun purging white staffers en masse after complaints were received about a “lack of racial diversity within the organization”.
Reuters reported that the white congresswoman who heads the campaign for the House of Representatives Democrats, has complained about a “lack of racial diversity” in the party.
Politico last week reported that black and Hispanic lawmakers had complained that the DCCC was not recruiting or retaining non-white staffers in top positions.
“Today has been a sobering day filled with tough conversations that too often we avoid, but I can say confidently that we are taking the first steps toward putting the DCCC back on path to protect and expand our majority, with a staff that truly reflects the diversity of our Democratic caucus and our party,” said Cheri Bustos – who is white – in a statement.
Six white senior staffers have left, including the communications director for the DCCC. Bustos has pledged to work “tirelessly to ensure that our staff is truly [racially] inclusive”.
