While the United States has become the first global focus of the Coronavirus pandemic with nearly a quarter of the 150 000 deaths recorded on the planet, the American president made a strange call, on Twitter, on Friday, April 17.

The head of state has asked American citizens of states governed by the Democrats to “free themselves” from confinement rules imposed by the governors for several weeks.

“Free Minnesota!”, “Free Michigan!”, “Free Virginia! ” Trump said. In several states, activists, sometimes armed, had planned to assemble in the street on Saturday, April 18, to challenge the authorities. “And save your wonderful second amendment. It is under siege, ” added the billionaire, referring to the constitutional right of the Americans to bear arms.

Thus, the American president openly called on citizens to rebel against the rules of containment and this, despite the 3 000 daily deaths currently in the United States. In total, the country has now registered more than 34 600 deaths, becoming the country most affected by the pandemic.

Also, Americans are hit hard by the lack of social protection. Millions of citizens are thus forced to turn to food banks, and employees are overwhelmed in the face of the explosion in demand for free food, reported French weekly Le Point.

Researchers at MIT have created a model for how the spread of the virus in countries that implemented quarantine measures have progressed.

And the researchers have issued a dire warning, saying that reopening the US too early would lead to a catastrophe.

“We further demonstrate that relaxing or reversing quarantine measures right now will lead to an exponential explosion in the infected case count, thus nullifying the role played by all measures implemented in the US since mid March 2020.”

The model focused on four locations: Wuhan, Italy, South Korea and the US. “Our results unequivocally indicate that the countries in which rapid government interventions and strict public health measures for quarantine and isolation were implemented were successful in halting the spread of infection and prevent it from exploding exponentially.”

The neural network has been able to closely match previous predictions of the spread of Covid-19.
