Forecasters predict doubling of US deaths
A forecast model from the University of Washington, often used by the White House, had doubled its prediction for the number of deaths in the US.
WashingtonOn Monday fatalities were adjusted to more than 134 000 by August 4. The adjustment is related to increased mobility after the curfew in 31 states is expected to be eased in mid-May, the institute said.
In the United States , the number of deaths related to the coronavirus exceeded the 79 528 mark according to the Johns Hopkins University numbers . There are now over 1,32 million confirmed infections in the country – more than in the countries most severely affected thereafter, Spain, Italy, Great Britain, France and Germany combined.
In the state of New York with around 19 million inhabitants, of whom almost half live in the metropolis of New York, almost 330 000 people have been infected with the virus so far. More than 26 000 have died.
