Debating Club chair Bríd O’Donnell justified the decision by saying that she “hadn’t realized what Dawkins thought of Islam”. O’Donnell announced the cancellation in a statement on her Instagram page.

O’Donnel emphasized that the invitation from Dawkins, who had described himself in the past as a “rather militant atheist”, was issued by her predecessor. She said she was “unaware of Richard Dawkins’ opinions on Islam and sexual assault”, adding that the society “will not be moving ahead with his address as we value our members comfort above all else”.

Yet, Dawkins was praised by the Left when he was going up against “narrow minded parochial” Christians, especially during his interview with Christian conservative Wendy Wright.

Dawkins became famous in 1976 when he published his research on the role of genes in selection. He later received criticism when he warned, among other things, of the “harmful influence” of Muslim religious schools.

The College Historical Society was founded in 1770 by the philosopher Edmund Burke.

She is one of the hypocrites who is setting up the next generation of European women for a life of enslavement.
