During the night of Tuesday October 20 to Wednesday October 21, seven Englishmen of Pakistani origin were arrested in Paris after they tried to run down a gendarme stationed guarding the embassy.
An investigation has been opened for “attempted murder of a person holding public authority” reported French news outlet 20 minutes.
According to initial information, it was a little before 7 pm that the British individuals tried to strike the peacekeeper. In addition, a dark-colored BMW with three people on board and followed by a Mercedes, also with a driver and two passengers, suddenly deviated and headed towards a gendarme. The latter was not injured, as he managed to narrowly avoid the vehicle.
After having circled the Elysée, these six people were arrested in the second arrondissement of Paris. A seventh person was arrested later that evening. They were all born in London, UK.
Apprehending them proved to be relatively difficult for law enforcement, as the license plates of both vehicles were false.
