Scenes of the attack on the Fdi event in Turin. Twitter

Crosetto shared a video on Twitter that captured the final moments of what looks to be a punitive expedition against a peaceful event organized by the party to support Enrico Forzese, a member of the party in Turin.

“An event. A civil and democratic way to represent a political thought, an idea, taking it to the streets,” Crosetto noted in the tweet accompanying the shared video. The politician then added a bitter reflection: “In my life I have met people from all political parties and I always went to greet with respect those who dedicated their time to us. Not all of them are like that.” The filming of the Turin video was done when the attack was coming to an end. Only a few people are seen chasing after an individual trying to escape, until the shot moves to the overturned table, from which all the promotion pamphlets have fallen. Another activist, holding a tricolor flag, shows his bloody hand, due to an injury sustained following the attack.

It is not the first time that the activists of the Brothers of Italy have been attacked and had their pamphlets destroyed. Just a week ago, a similar episode took place in Bologna, where a campaign was underway to demand early elections.

The activities of the Brothers of Italy are often the object of attention on the part of opposing political forces, which seem not to tolerate the freedom of thought and speech for issues on which they disagree.

Turin and Bologna are in one of Italy’s most deep “red” zones, strongholds of the Democratic Party (PD) and other leftists. So recruiting by the FdI or other center-right parties are likely to get violent pushback. However, what is interesting regarding this story is that the FdI is active in recruiting on what used to be unchallenged leftist turf.
