G7 summit: Doddering Biden confuses Syria and Libya three times

Joe Biden's latest painful slip of the tongue is again eliciting much speculation about his mental health. In a speech at the G7 summit, he confused the countries Syria and Libya. Before that he aimlessly wandered into a café appearing disorientated before his wife arrived and dragged him off.

US President Joe Biden held a press conference at the end of the G7 summit at Cornwall Airport in Newquay, Great Britain, on June 13, 2021.

Observers are pessimistic about Joe Biden’s upcoming meeting with Vladimir Putin after the US president stumbled through a speech, mixed up Syria and Libya, and falsely claimed Russia was involved in the Libyan conflict.

“We can work with Russia – for example in Libya. We should open the passage to be able to go through, provide food aid and economic… I mean, vital support for a people who are in real trouble,” said Biden at a press conference to mark the close of the G7 summit in Cornwall, England, on Sunday.

The safe transit of refugees and food aid, as Biden described them, are issues that affect the Syrian war, but not the Libyan conflict. While the Obama administration intervened in both conflicts by armed rebel militias, carried out an air campaign in Syria and assassinated Muammar Gaddafi in Libya as part of a NATO bombing campaign in 2011, Russia notably participated at the invitation of the Syrian government in Syria. Moscow supported the government of Bashar al-Assad in the fight against jihadists of the Islamic State (ISIS) and other terrorist groups.

“By the way, there are places where…” Biden broke off before accusing Russia of not having the capacity to rebuild “Syria, Libya”. Biden then urged Russia to invest in Libya because “they are there” before confusing the two countries a third time and reiterating that Russia was involved in Libya.

Rumours of cognitive decline have haunted Biden from the moment he announced his candidacy for the White House in 2019. Since taking office, several incidents in which the president forgot the names of his own staff and lost the plot in mid-sentence at press conferences have only fuelled more speculation that he must be some kind of puppet or useful idiot for the Deep State.

Biden’s confusion was not the only indication this weekend that something might be wrong. Friday’s video footage showed him wandering around the terrace of a café looking lost before the First Lady arrived to lead him away and scold him. The guests watching this public display of cognitive decline, burst out laughing when Jill Biden dragged off her geriatric patient.

In addition to his “dementia moment”, Biden made another mistake at the G7 summit in Cornwall at the weekend. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson had to correct Biden who interrupted Johnson demanding that he introduce the President of South Africa after Johnson had already done so. Sadly, Biden could not remember Cyril Ramaphosa’s name but insisted. Eventually, Johnson had to hold up his hand to keep Biden from making more nonsensical comments during his speech.

“Is there any other president in American history whom any other leader would have been comfortable shushing?” The Washington Times wanted to know. Biden’s embarrassing appearance at the G-7 Summit is his first trip outside his country as president of the United States.

And to make matters worse, during the solo press conference that Biden held after the summit, he referred to the Russian leader as “President Trump”.
