An eleven-year-old Muslim student threatened a Berlin teacher by saying he will behead her. The reason for the statement was the announcement of the upcoming parents' talks at a school in Spandau.

The pedagogue is said to have pointed out that parents who did not take part without an excuse would have to face consequences, the head of the all-day school, Karina Jehniche, told Berlin daily Tagesspiegel. The eleven-year-old then responded: “If that happens, I’ll do the same thing to you as the boy did with the teacher in Paris.”

The class was “completely shocked” by his threat. “I’ve never seen anything like this before,” said Jehniche.

The Muslim pupil was of course referring to the murder of Samuel Paty . The French history teacher was beheaded by a jihadist in mid-October for showing Muhammad cartoons in a class discussing freedom of expression.

The Berlin student had already been noticed a week before as a result of his violent statements. “I was there when the boy declared immediately after the minute’s silence for Samuel Paty that someone who insulted the prophet should be killed, that it was okay,” the school’s social worker reported to the Tagesspiegel.

An imam was also present at the commemoration. He explained to the boy that nobody should be killed, but it clearly had had no effect on the child.

Jehniche also criticized the parents of the student for having been unreasonable in resolving the conflict. The boy’s mother said on the phone that it had to be the school’s fault if her son said something like that.
