Joe Biden stands ready to heighten global conflict

The Pentagon, the State Department and an array of intelligence agencies have been sabotaging President Trump in order to wage endless wars. They are now boasting about it.

The departing US Syria envoy Jim Jeffrey, a “Never Trumper”, has publicly acknowledged that US troop deployments in foreign countries were far higher than they had stated. And the same war hawks have now taken over the levers of power.

Jeffrey told DefenceOne that his team routinely misled the president and senior leaders about troop levels in Syria. “We were always playing shell games to not make clear to our leadership how many troops we had there,” he said in an interview. The actual number of troops in northeast Syria is “a lot more than” the two hundred troops Trump agreed to leave there in 2019.

The neoconservatives have openly been rejoicing over the possible demise of Trump, and the group of notorious warmongers who has conned Americans into endless wars, has set up camp in the Democratic Party.

Notable neo-con hardliners like Eliot Cohen, John Negroponte, and David Kramer, had played a leading role in disseminating the utterly discredited notion of Russian interference even before Trump’s inauguration.

Infamous neo-con Robert Kagan, husband of Maidan coup instigator Victoria Nuland, was one of the co-founders of Project for the New American Century (PNAC). The PNAC has been instrumental in sowing conflict in the Middle East and on Russia’s border. Kagan, a former Republican pretending to be “conservative”, staunchly backed Hillary Clinton in the previous election. “I would say all Republican foreign policy professionals are anti-Trump,” Kagan tellingly told The Intercept in 2016. His “foreign policy professionals” all happened to be pro-war.

The so-called Lincoln Project, a group of Republicans linked to the military industry (including former RNC Chair Michael Steele) and led by neocon Rick Wilson, was thus devoted to defeating Trump in this election.

The new Biden team could once again enable a fresh NATO expansion in parts of Asia, Latin America, Africa and the Pacific. And Biden has recently stressed, on the record, that Russia was the “biggest threat” to the US.

The Financial Times pointed out how Biden and his neo-con supporters viewed the Russian Federation. “We expect a massive toughening of the stance towards Russia,” a high-ranking western diplomat in Washington told the FT. “There is a hatred for Russia amongst [Biden’s team] that is really amazing. It’s not just rational; it’s also very emotional.”

China is also in the cross-hairs. American Conservative editor Kelley Beaucar Vlahos has noted, “Democratic interventionists and Blob careerists now [sit] at the right hand of [Biden]… like [Antony] Blinken, Nicholas Burns, Susan Rice, Samantha Power, and Michele Flournoy, who has been touted as a possible Secretary of Defense. They would sooner drag the country back into Syria, as well as position aggressively against China if the military pushed hard enough, and there was a humanitarian reason to justify it.”

Joe Biden became the ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in 1997 and was the chair in 2001-2003 and again in 2007-2009. In short, he was a major cheerleader for the US invasion of Iraq.

His accomplishments as vice president include a drone war with “kill lists”; the failed surge in Afghanistan; the “liberation” of Libya; the bloody war in Syria thanks to “moderate rebels”; and the destruction of Yemen.

American radio host Jimmy Dore drew attention to Biden’s legacy: “Joe Biden voted for the Iraq War. Not only did he vote for it, he was one of the most vocal and active advocates for the Iraq War… Under Joe Biden we did Libya, Yemen, and Syria… he took Bush’s two wars and turned them into seven wars.”

Military contractor stocks plummeted when it looked like Trump won the election. Stocks in Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics, and the Carlyle Group all crashed, but then skyrocketed once the media announced Biden would be the one to take office.
